Australian citizens aged 14 and older who are employed or self-employed for a minimum of 8 hours per week may be eligible for government reimbursements of up to $1,610 per year for ADHD Neural Coaching through the Job Access - Employee Assistance Fund (EAF).

Update & Troubleshooting: What to Do If an Error Appears During Your Online Application

Some applicants have encountered an error message when applying for JobAccess funding. This issue appears to be linked to ATO/myGov updates made in mid-December.

I recently spoke with the EAF Team at JobAccess, and they have provided a PDF guide with two temporary solutions to resolve the issue while the government works on an IT update.

You Need:

  • My Gov ID

  • Document confirming ADHD diagnosis - You can contact your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist to send one over.

  • Proof of Australian residency. Exceptions include holders of a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) from 1 June 2021.

  • Evidence that you are currently employed or self-employed, with work expected to continue for at least 13 weeks.

  • For self-employed individuals, evidence of working a minimum of 8 hours per week over the last 13 weeks and earning an income equivalent to or above the National Minimum Wage.

Steps to Apply for Funding

The application process takes under 30 minutes using your MyGov ID and a document confirming your ADHD diagnosis, which can be requested from your GP, psychologist, or psychiatrist. During the application, select the "mental health" category and list $1,610 in the cost section.

Reimbursement Process

Workplace Disclosure

EAF does not require disclosing your diagnosis to your workplace.

Acceptable employment evidence includes this information:

  • Full name

  • Job title

  • Company name & ABN

  • Start date

  • Tenure of job role & hours worked per week (can supply payslips)

  • Employer’s signature (from contract) – this is the key requirement; your evidence must include it.

If a Signed Contract Isn’t Available: Options for Evidence and Discretion

  • Request a statement of employment, often used for applying for bank loans, mortgages, or verifying employment status.

  • Any document with your employer’s signature, such as an Employment Agreement or Letter of Offer.

  • If comfortable, speak to HR instead for assistance with the required documentation.
